In class, we have been working with the weather… and as a fun project, all the children have become weather boys and girls.
each class had to watch the weather forecast on TV, or read it in the newspaper. For homework, they had to write a sentence or two about the weather over the weekend, then in English class we recorded them giving us their forecast!

It’s been an interesting 7 days… What, with a whirlwind day trip to Madrid and enough information to send us loopy, however we can now start planning the programme for our first week of meetings with earnest.
Our friends (all fifteen of them) will arrive in the latter half of November and stay for a week. In that time, we hope to not only foment a programme for the following 2 year project, but also show our visitors our picturesque island and leave a lasting impression.
Our partners, and therefore visitors, consist of teachers from 6 other countries…. Our original penpal partners in Salisbury, UK plus contingents from Lithuania, Turkey, Romania, Poland and Greece.
Now to get the accommodation sorted! If anyone has ideas for cultural activities, please feel free to comment, as at present all the usual outlets have a vacuum of culture for the week of 16th to 18th November.
We have found out today that our application for a European Lifelong Learning Programme Comenius grant has been approved!
We have been awarded 20,000€ to fund a new project entitled ‘Understanding our Environment’ which will consist of 8 different schools across Europe working together.
Our partner schools are in Sardina (Italy), Istanbul (Turkey), Kavala (Greece), Salisbury (UK), Łódź (Poland) and Craiova (Romania). The 20,000€ will largely go towards funding trips to the partner schools, so 5º and 6º can look forward to an interesting year ahead with visits to fantastic locations in the European Union.
A new website will be set up for the project and I will post about this at a later date.
See a map of all the partner school locations HERE.
For Halloween this year we made these charming bats that we hung up in the school.
They are really easy to do and are suitable for all primary. I have added a downloadable PDF containing the instructions and the template for the wings.
